In a surprising trend, travelers in Fargo, North Dakota, are opting for March over December for their business and holiday trips. This shift reflects the growing diversity and population growth in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

The Hector International Airport in Fargo is experiencing an unprecedented surge in travel, with March 2025 shaping up to be the busiest month in the airport’s 94-year history. According to Shawn Dobberstein, Executive Director of the airport, “March 2025 has broken all records, with over 70,000 seats available on flights.”

The airport’s growth is a testament to the increasing diversity of the Fargo-Moorhead community, with a notable presence of Black and Hispanic travelers.

To manage the influx of travelers, Dobberstein advises locals to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flights and consider alternative transportation options to avoid congestion. The airport’s new parking ramp is expected to be completed by August.

This travel trend reflects the growing economic and cultural vitality of the Fargo-Moorhead area, and the airport is working to accommodate the increasing demand.
