North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has signed House Bill 1340 into law, relaxing the state’s window tint regulations. The bill, which received strong bipartisan support, passed with a vote of 89-2 in the House and 41-6 in the Senate.

As of now, vehicle owners in North Dakota can install window tints with a visibility of 35% on their front side windows, down from the previous 50% limit. This change brings the state’s regulations more in line with neighboring states. However, the front windshield’s allowable tint darkness remains at 70%, and rear windows still have no specific restrictions as long as vehicles are equipped with side mirrors.

Governor Armstrong celebrated the signing by sharing a photo of himself wearing sunglasses on social media. This new law aims to provide drivers with increased privacy, comfort, and reduced glare while driving.
