Canada-US Travel bookings have plummeted, with a staggering 70% drop in future flight bookings from Canada to the US through September, according to OAG data. The sharpest decline is in April, with bookings down over 75%, followed by May with a 72% drop, and June to September with a 71% decline.

This significant downturn is likely due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the trade dispute between the two countries. The Trump administration’s trade war, which includes costly tariffs and threats, has led to a decline in Canadian tourism to the US. In February, there was a 13% decrease in flights to the US compared to the previous year.

The US Travel Association warns that a 10% reduction in travel from Canada to the US could result in $2.1 billion in lost spending and 14,000 job losses. The situation may worsen, as the White House has reiterated its call to annex Canada, with Trump suggesting that Canada could become the 51st US state.

The trade war has also led to tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada, with some suspended or delayed but set to fully take effect in April. Canadian leaders have cautioned that the US would suffer from higher prices, fewer jobs, and slower growth due to the trade war.
